A good week for cookies

Not to brag, but I think I’ve finally found the perfect chocolate chip cookie.

I mean, don’t get me wrong– every cookie baker and cookie eater has a “perfect chocolate chip cookie” recipe– and after trying what must be at least 50 chocolate chip recipes, I really do believe that these from Taste of Home are the best. I probably should do some sort of epic chocolate chip cookie experiment/taste test to find a definitive winner but let’s be honest, we would never have a consensus.

Chocolate chip cookies are deeply personal- they’re the quintessential cookie for so many people.  When I say think of a cookie, I’m going to bet you’re picturing a chocolate chip cookie.  At least I do, and mine is very specifically a Soft Batch chocolate chip cookie that used to come in a red pack and was the object of my childhood desires.  They were good with milk and on their own, and if I had one, I would have 10– they were addictive.  Maybe they actually had nicotine or crack in them which is why they’ve been discontinued.  But my point is, that chocolate chip cookies are universally loved but can vary sooooooo much.  The texture, the chip to cookie ratio, the flavour– and they all come down to personal preferences.

So when I say I’ve found the perfect chocolate chip cookie- feel free to disagree.  These ones, the Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies, are pretty good though– I think it’s the vanilla pudding in the mix!!

I also made Chocolate Sugar Cookies from my new America’s Test Kitchen cookbook this week which were also very good.

It’s a good baking week this week! Life is still throwing curveballs, twists and turns but at least the cookies are good!
