At least for the under 10 set. So last week I think I wrote about Thomas’ new found love of cookies- well it’s more than just a passing fad!  The trend continues– and it’s now been two weeks and four types of cookies and they’ve pretty much all been winners!

The only thing that wasn’t a winner were Christina Tosi’s Hijacked Biscoff cookies from her Milk Bar Life cookbook.  Not sure where I went wrong but they were not a vibe. Once I realised they weren’t going to turn out well, I pivoted.  I asked Claude for a twist on a chocolate chip cookie which he delivered in the form of Brown Sugar Espresso Chocolate Chip cookies– which were very good.

I also made Buttered Rum Cookies which are always amazing.  Jesse Szewyczak is amazing and his recipes are always fab.  I also made Sugar Sugar Cookies by Christina Tosi (again) and Cranberry, White Chocolate and Macadamia cookies from America’s Test Cookie “The Perfect Cookie” cookbook. Considering I hate nuts, they weren’t too bad.

If I’m honest, I’m running out of ideas at the very time that Thomas and his friends are starting to like the cookies I make.  I want to try new things that are yummy but a bit different- and not too hard to make.  And I’m feeling stuck for new ideas.  And even buying more cookie cookbooks may not be the answer.  I want cookies that are different not just another recipe for chocolate chip cookies.  I want different but not scary, creative but not confronting.  So that’s my new challenge.

I’m open to ideas and speculation.  And really to try anything as long as it’s not too time consuming.

This week, I’m doing two cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction, Biscoff Chocolate Chip and Nutella Chocolate Chip– even though I hate nuts and nutella.  But they were requests and I’m running low on ideas!
