Which is overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to be back at work after a break. It’s great to have a purpose that has impact outside of the four walls of my house and family- BUT I’m also remembering what it’s like to be a working mom and how it’s a constant stream of doing. Doing work, doing home, hoping for self-care, and generally being on a treadmill that other members of the household aren’t. I’m not complaining but I’ve forgotten how fractured it feels to try to do it all.

And me being me, I’m still doing it all and still baking. In fact, I’m baking more – kind of. But I haven’t had the chance to write about it.

SO, a quick catch up.

Week 1’s cookies: Dorie Greenspan’s World Peace Cookies and her Mocha Ricotta Puff Cookies. Honestly, the World Peace Cookies were amazing! I definitely liked these a lot.

Week 2’s cookies: Back to an old favorite- from Christina Tosi’s All About Cookies cookbook- Chipless Wonders (although I panicked and added a boatload of chocolate and white chocolate chips at the end) and her Chocolate Malted Brownie Cookies. Christina Tosi is ALWAYS a winner. Both cookies were delish! Honestly, I still can’t believe I don’t have her Bake Club cookbook– I may have to fix that soon!

Week 3’s cookies: I’ve lost my mind and baked three batches of cookies. Is stress baking a thing?? If so, I think I’m doing it. So, from Jesse Szewczyk’s Cookies I’ve made Smoky Muscovado Sugar Cookies and Buttered Rum Sugar Cookies. And from Emelia Jackson’s book, Some of my best friends are cookies book, I made Matcha, White Chocolate and Raspberry cookies. I still hate matcha so these were a special request for my new personal trainer and her fiancee- who both love matcha.

So that’s it, that’s what’s happening in the cookie palace this week!
