Wow- April went by in an exciting, amazing, fabulous blur. It was one of the best months I’ve had in a while. Why? We went to America!
And the trip was full of highlights! Cherry Blossoms, Birthday, Duke reunion, South Carolina, Atlanta. It was jam packed and full of love!

It really filled up my cup and gave me a new and improved energy for 2026– not that 2026 didn’t have a good energy, but there’s something about spending time with family and old friends that puts a pep in your step– or at least my step!
And I had a birthday– and with a birthday comes– a new cookbook! Two new cookbooks even. One for cookies, Dorie’s Cookies and one non-cookie one, We Fancy. Dorie’s Cookies was recommended by my cousin, who also loves to bake. She actually gave me 3 suggestions for cookie cookbooks- but cookbooks are HEAVY and we only have 23kg for luggage and that is NOT enough for a 3 week trip and souvenirs! (The other two suggestions were Cookie Love and The Perfect Cookie – hopefully they will be making their way to my shelf soon!
Dorie’s Cookies are already doing A LOT! I made her Anzac Cookies and Crash-O-Cookies and they were amazing! The Runner and The Child said the Crash-O-Cookies were the best I’ve ever made– I think it’s because I soaked the raisins in rum and bourbon– but I think they would be delicious either way! But so far, week 1 with Dorie=10/10 NO NOTES!!!!!
Before we left, I made Brown Butter Matcha Cookies and Rainbow Rave Cookies. Look, I hate matcha. Hate it. So I didn’t love the cookies, but for people who liked matcha, they really loved them. I did not. Because (see above) I hate matcha.
